We recommend that you install PGSuper before using the tutorials. Learn more about how to download and install PGSuper on our Downloads Page.

  • Modeling Touch Shoring with PGSuper

    Duration:
    Approx. 15 min

    New!!

This tutorial demonstrates how to model a touch shoring construction scenario with PGSuper. Touch shoring is used to support precast girders during deck placement to reduce the final stresses in the composite deck and girder system.

  • Tutorial for Using PGSuper.com Custom DOT Configurations

    Duration:
    Approx 10 min.

    New!!

PGSuper.com custom DOT configurations make using PGSuper even easier. Predefined configurations put a DOT's girder sections, standards, and design policies just a few mouse clicks away. This tutorial describes how to set-up PGSuper to access our ever-expanding libary of configurations.

  • Beginning Video 1 - Design a TxDOT I-Girder Using PGSuper

    Duration:
    Narrated: 38 Min

    New Users - Start Here!!

Learn the steps required to use PGSuper in a production engineering environment. In this narrated tutorial, Richard Pickings provides an introduction to using PGSuper to design a precast I-girder in a real TxDOT bridge.

  • Beginning Tutorial 1 - General Overview of PGSuper

    Duration:
    Approx 30 min

PGSuper is designed for ease of use, but it also has many unique and powerful features. This interactive tutorial provides an overview of PGSuper's basic features to get you up and running in no time. Starting from a real bridge, we will show you how to use PGSuper to design and analyze an exterior girder, and during the process, show off some really cool stuff!

  • Admin Tutorial 1 - Working with Project Libraries

    Duration:
    Approx 20 min

In this tutorial, we define Project Libraries, illustrate the process for creating and using project library entries, and show how to share them between project files. As an example, we will create a special traffic barrier in the project library, use the barrier in a bridge model, and import it into another PGSuper project.

  • Advanced Geometrics - Part 1

    Duration:
    Approx 15 min

PGSuper's geometric features allow you to model highly complex superstructure gometries. In part 1, we will model a three-span tapered bridge on a simple horizontal curve.

  • Advanced Geometrics - Part 2

    Duration:
    Approx 15 min

PGSuper's geometric features allow you to model highly complex superstructure gometries. In part 2, we model a three span interchange ramp bridge. The bridge is located in a transition between a straight portion of the alignment and a curved portion. The deck width tapers to accommodate the geometry of the site and the roadway. The seven W42G girders are uniquely framed in every span.

  • Advanced Geometrics - Part 3

    Duration:
    Approx 15 min

PGSuper's geometric features allow you to model highly complex superstructure gometries. In part 3, we create an adjacent box girder bridge that uses different width exterior and interior girders.

  • Modeling Lightweight Concrete with PGSuper

    Duration:
    Approx 30 min

Enhancements made in PGSuper Version 2.4 include support for modeling lightweight concrete. Engineers can now define both the girder and deck concrete as normal weight, sand lightweight, or all lightweight concrete. This tutorial describes how to model lightweight concrete material properties in PGSuper.

  • Modeling Inverted Tee Bent Caps

    Duration:
    Approx 10 min

Many state DOT's make use of the Inverted Tee Bent Cap system in simple span precast-prestressed concrete girder bridges. PGSuper does not model any specific substructure system, but instead provides a flexible geometric description to accommodate inverted tee bent caps and virtually every other substructure system. This tutorial explores how to define the connection geometry for an inverted tee pier cap.

  • Modeling Sidewalks and Barriers in PGSuper

    Duration:
    Approx 15 min

PGSuper has powerful features for modeling complex sidewalk and railing configurations. This tutorial describes how to model a combination sidewalk/railing systems in PGSuper.

  • LRFR Load Rating with PGSuper

    Duration:
    Approx 15 min

PGSuper can perform the load rating analysis of the bridge superstructure in accordance with Section 6, Part A of the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, also referred to as LRFR ratings. This tutorial describes how to perform a load rating analysis in PGSuper.

  • Highlights of PGSuper Version 2.3

    Duration:
    Approx 10 min.

The Washington and Texas Departments of Transportation released PGSuper Version 2.3 in May 2010. This version has many exciting new features and enhancements. Many features were developed by BridgeSight Software under contract with TxDOT.
